East Texas Getaway

Over spring break, I visited my grandfather's property in east Texas which is located on about 1,000 acres of land. The property was filled with Angus cows and about 49 baby Angus as his side job is a cow farmer (I assume that is what it is called). While I experience nature every day walking to class, on the Trinity River, or on Thursday afternoons in the nature center, I usually don'y experience nature like this. It was nice to get away from the city and to be surrounded by thick woods full of pine trees. It was also nice to smell the fresh air (although a lot of it smelled like cow poop) as the east texas air reminds me of my childhood. I really do wish I could spend more time in rural areas like this instead of the city although there is not much to do in areas like this besides hike and fish.

  1. Thanks for posting about visiting your grandfather's ranch. It must be nice to be in the midst of 1,000 acres of rural land. But your last sentence made me smile, because honestly I can think of a thousands things I could on 1,000 acres in addition to hiking and fishing. Nature is a constant flow of time and life.
